There is a special single-screw extruder which is called "rotary head extruder" in the extruder business field. It is manufactured based on US design and technology only for puffed corn curls. The product shape is like chili. In different markets, this product was named with Kurkure, Cheetos, Nik Naks, etc.

The reason why we say it is a special extruder is raw material is only "corn grits". It is after crushing of corn, and with big size(not powder).  And what's more, this extruder doesn't need any mold. The product will be cut into curls when the puffed materials come out from the two plates' space. The inflating is from friction heat. So, compare with double screw food extruders, it is an energy-saving extruder. Because it doesn't need electric heating.
